Whether you are just starting out with your slow cooker or have had it for ages, it’s always fun finding new and creative recipes. Below are ten of my favourite recipes to use in my slow cooker.
Pulled pork is a favourite among my friends and family because of how tender and juicy it is, and it’s one of my favourites as well because of how effortless it is. This recipe makes eight servings, which is more than enough to feed a family of four and have some left over for a late night snack or possibly your kids’ lunches the following day. Making some mashed potatoes or rice along with some steamed vegetables makes for an effortlessly gourmet family dinner.
Another favourite is pot roast, because of its tenderness and wonderful texture. If you work a 9-5 job, this is a good recipe to try out because the roast often has to cook for a good 5-6 hours; this method of cooking is easy and completely safe unlike the use of an oven. Serving this tender beef with a nice mound of rich mashed potatoes, with some vegetables and gravy on the side makes for a simple, but succulent meal.
If you want to have a small turkey dinner during any time of the year, making stuffing in your slow cooker is a great alternative. If you’re like myself and enjoy homemade stuffing without all the hassle of cooking an entire turkey, this is the recipe for you. Make this side dish in your slow cooker while at work or relaxing at home, and later at night prepare a turkey or chicken breast in the oven or on the stove top and serve this with mashed or roast potatoes with some vegetables. This is an easy way to have a holiday dinner without all the hassle of cooking a twenty pound turkey.
Baked potato soup is an extremely easy recipe if you are going to be faced with a long, busy day. This soup is a warm, hearty soup that has a unique flavour that almost everyone will enjoy. After 7-9 hours of slow cooking, you can serve this as is with a little garnish or add in some of your favourite meat like beef or chicken.
Some other favourite recipes of mine include sweet chilli, roast beef, seafood chowder, and barbecue ribs. My family and friends all enjoy the meals I prepare using these unique and delicious recipes.
When you work long hours and for five or more days a week, coming home to cook is not often something you want to do. In our generation, fast-food and take-out are often the options we reach for when in need of a meal after a hard day’s work, but why not cook something while at work? Having your slow cooker running unattended while you are work is perfectly safe and easy without using too much electricity or any gas. These are easy meals that take little cooking skill or preparation, your family will love you for it.
